ChgAddr V1.0 for RemoteAccess
by Marc A. Shannon, 129/45
August 5, 1990
Okay, you've just received this file and you have no idea what it is.
Well, that's where this README file comes in. (Full details on how to
use this program can be found in the CHGADDR.DOC file.)
ChgAddr allows you, the Sysop of a RemoteAccess BBS on multiple networks,
to selectively manipulate your Network Mail message addresses. While
RACONFIG allows you to specify the appropriate alias address for an
EchoMail message area, you don't get that kind of functionality with the
NetMail message area (without creating several boards, one for each of
your aliases).
Using a fairly simple script language, you can tell ChgAddr what
addresses you want to change around. For example, my system is on two
networks (one of which is a private network and the coordinator of that
system doesn't want to use a different zone for it), both of which are in
zone 1. You can see where the problems might come. Sending mail on
FidoNet from 1/6 isn't exactly desireable, especially when that *isn't*
my address on FidoNet.
Let's take a quick look at this example:
Old-From 1:1/6
Old-To All Except 1:1/0 1 2 3 4 5 6 8 10 11 12 102 103 201
New-From 1:129/45
If a user sends NetMail to node 1/3, and my default address is 1/6,
nothing will be done. However, if a message is sent to 129/26, ChgAddr
will reset the originating network address to be 129/45, thus eliminating
net-confusion.
Does this sound like something you can use? If so, check out the
documentation for more details (and restrictions).
